Napoli

After our first international overnight Ferry journey we made a quick stop in Bari (about 21 minutes, actually) and hopped a train to Napoli. Underneath the smog we found some pretty great sites, including Mt. Vesuvius in the background. The city is currently plagued by a Garbage strike that has been going on for over a year. It was a mess and our a two day stop quickly became one. We were lucky enough to meet some really great travelers in the beautiful gardens of our Ostello.

Fortunately Napoli, the home of Pizza, was not too distracted by the strike to stop making sensational pizza. We went to theis famous spot, Da Michele, "The Temple of Pizza" since 1870. There are two choices and both are absolutely sublime!

Our table mate gave me some very good pointers on the language of Italian Cuisine.....a pizza is molto buono, not va bene...

We spent our only full day in the National Museum. The collection was fantastic, including some really great mosaics from Pompeii. Anyone recognize this piece from the opening of the HBO series, Rome??? anyone??? Patrick???

This Mosaic is Alexander the Great in Action...

Ed was very impressed with Atlas
